About Me
Hey, fun seekers! I'm Kathryn, the brains and brawn behind Rooted + Roaming Travel Co., a North Carolina-based bespoke travel planning company providing custom-curated trips for people with a curious nature and an adventurous spirit.

Having worked in both the non-profit and corporate worlds in varying capacities for the past 20 years, I have practical, honed experience in logistics and detail management, relationship building, and creative thinking. But I also have an innate and perpetual curiosity for new experiences and places which was modeled for me and encouraged by my favorite people - my family.
​
We are a family of hard-working entrepreneurs, curious explorers, positive thinkers, and lifelong learners. The most prominent influences in my formative years were my paternal great-grandfather, a centenarian with a can-do attitude and a steadfast pursuit of knowledge and new experiences, and my maternal grandmother, the family genealogist who embodied the importance of understanding and appreciating where you come from and how it informs where you're going.​

Rooted + Roaming Travel Co. was created with the intention of bringing together my familial influences - allowing travel to be both a celebration of who you are and what has shaped you, and an opportunity for thoughtfully curious exploration. ​

If you're like me, you believe that travel is about more than just sightseeing (although that is fun!); it also allows us to foster deeper connections, embrace the uncertainty and joy of new experiences, and enrich our perspectives. These are the things that take you from being a spectator to a storyteller.

​The heart of this business is all about creating travel experiences that tell your story. You're choosing to take a trip or experience a particular destination because something about it speaks to who you are and/or what you need in that moment. Whether you're looking for rest, reconnection, adventure, or simply a beautiful view, my goal is for you to feel cared for and confident that every detail of the journey is perfectly suited to your needs and preferences.
Fun Facts
When I'm not planning other people's trips or traveling myself, I enjoy several activities that make my husband lovingly call me 'nerd': reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and watching baking shows. Together, we like to spend our time hunting through antique shops for unique treasures, sipping well-crafted cocktails, and working on one of our many DIY projects around the house.
